Why Choose Quality Minds, Inc?
"I grew up in a small, Southern town and saw my hometown drastically altered by the closing of two plants. With the two lifelines gone, the town slowly and painfully dried up to near extinction.
Over the last two years, I have done much work with a small, South Carolina manufacturer with less than 100 employees. They are good at what they do and like many other companies; they place high value on improving their people and processes.
For the client, I have conducted six lean events. Two events dealt with reducing throughput times of manufacturing processes. One event’s goal was to improve the order entry process. Another event’s goal was to reduce the time needed to ship finished goods.
In each event, time was the critical variable. The approach was fairly simple: We first defined the project then measured the process. The measurement entailed videotaping the process and conducting time studies during the taping.
The team viewed the videotape and brainstormed for improvement opportunities. Actions were then taken to improve the process."
Quality Minds Gets Results!
"As a result of our efforts (within each event), the percent reductions in process time ranged from 26% to 41.6% with a mean percent reduction of 34%. To this day we continue to conduct simple
yet very effective three to four day lean events.
Since 1991, I have taught approximately three classes per year. My average class size is approximately six people. The first time certification pass rate for my classes is approximately 50%.
I estimate that since I began, roughly fifty one engineers and technicians have become certified with the help of my classes. I take great pride in this statistic. I cite it not to pat my back but to recognize that my efforts, in a small way, have helped companies continuously improve the way they do business." - Stephen Deas
Applying Six Sigma to Software Implementation Projects
Six Sigma can be applied to software implementation projects as well as software development. Project scenarios that feature common pain points provide examples of how
Six Sigma can address software implementation issues.
